Depression in Adolescents: Depression in adolescents is not uncommon and is often brushed off or dismissed as a “phase.” There is also a tendency to ignore the withdrawn or quiet youth because they are not “causing a problem.” But if depression persists and is left untreated, depression can lead to serious consequences. For this reason, signs and symptoms of depression in adolescents must be identified, assessed for lethality, and treatment provided.
